Operating Principle

Rate-compensation and fixed temperature. The detector consists of an aluminum tube and two internal struts. A slow temperature rise allows the struts to expand at a similar rate to the tube, causing an alarm when the fixed temperature setpoint is reached. A rapid temperature rise causes the outer tube to expand more quickly than the inner struts, causing the contacts to close and trigger an alarm at a lower temperature. This compensates for thermal lag.
