Application Note:
The use as sample draw monitors of certain types of gas leak detectors, such as those with electrochemical sensors, the sample draw application should consider that most gas leak detectors are not designed for continuous exposure to target gas, doing so will dramatically reduce the sensor's life, depending of the concentration of target gas in the background. However, if electrochemical sensors will be used to monitor occasional presence of target gas then there should be no lifespan issues.
Sensor types designed for continuous exposure to target gas are: Infrared, PID and Oxygen electrochemical cells.
Gas detectors used as sample draw monitors require detector-specific flow cell adaptors attached to their sensor heads, to allow sample air to pass through.
