GAS DETECTORS > CARBON DIOXIDE

GASMAX II 3-Wire Gas Monitor with local stainless steel sensor head configured for GDS-IR-CO2 0-5% (0-50,000 ppm) Carbon Dioxide (CO2), 4-20 mA output transmitter. Includes Alarm Relay Board (3x 5A SPDT) and RS-485 Modbus RTU. Single/Dual channel Toxic / O2 / LEL.

  • No routine calibration required
  • Incorporates reliable dual wavelength infrared technology
  • Fault indication for failure conditions
  • Failsafe operation of vital functions in dirty conditions
  • Optics can be cleaned and maintained by user.
  • 5 year MTBF and lower total cost of ownership.

The GDS-IR Infrared Remote Point Gas Detector 3-Wire output 4-20 mA can be remotely installed at locations in excess of 1000 ft from the monitor or controller. GDS-IR sensors offer a 5 year MTBF and lower total cost of ownership.

The GDS-IR Infrared Point Gas Detector uses infrared light to detect hydrocarbon content in ambient air. The dual wavelength detector compares a reference wavelength to an analytical wavelength; target gases absorb the analytical energy but do not affect the reference. The resulting imbalance is proportional to the target gas concentration.

Typical GDS-IR installations require only one auto-zero calibration after start-up. This “no routine calibrations needed” feature, along with ease of installation, greatly reduces the GDS-IR cost of ownership when evaluated over periods as short as one year. Competing catalytic bead sensors require frequent calibration and must be replaced every two to three years at costs as high as several hundred dollars each.

Recognizing the need for high reliability, the GDS-IR output is programmed to respond to multiple failure modes. Dirty optics are indicated by transmitting 1mA continuously, and sensor failure by transmitting 0.0mA. Calibration-in-progress generates an output of 2.2mA and calibration failures an output 1.6mA.

The rugged explosion-proof stainless steel housing makes it suitable for applications in the harshest of environments. These include offshore platforms, petrochemical plants, refineries, waste disposal facilities, parking garages and many others. When combined with the GDS Corp. model GASMAX II Gas Monitor, local LCD readout, alarm relays, Modbus® RS- 485 or isolated 4-20mA output are available. A toxic or oxygen gas channel may also be combined with the GDS-IR when the GASMAX/II is added.

The SmartIR sensor, configurable for %LEL Methane, %Volume Hydrocarbons or % Volume Carbon Dioxide provides a complete IR solution that includes optics, electronics, linearization and temperature compensation.

The GASMAX II single / dual channel Toxic / O2 / LEL gas monitor delivers the latest gas detection technology, reliability and ease of use. Available in both single and dual channel models, the GASMAX II is CSA certified for use in Div 1 & Div 2 explosion proof installations. For low temperature applications, an Arctic Monitor option enables operation to –55°C ambient.

The highly visible backlit display shows calibrated engineering values, bargraph data, 30-minute trend and setup information. An internal real-time clock time-stamps calibration and alarm events for later review. Front panel LEDs continuously indicate alarms.

In addition to dual 4-20mA current loop outputs, an RS-485 two-wire MODBUS® interface and three optional 5A relays are available to communicate with controllers or local alarm indicators.

Operator interface is via a menu-driven magnetic keypad, allowing complete setup and calibration without hazardous area declassification.

The GASMAX II maintains a record of sensor calibration data that provides an estimate of sensor life remaining. During each post-calibration purge delay, the GASMAX II can be programmed to transmit this data on the 4-20mA output.

Locally connected Smart Sensors enhance this capability by maintaining their own electronic record of serial number,born-on date, initial calibration values, engineering units and other data, ensuring the most accurate measurement and alarming capability available today.
